Bishop Evelio Menjivar-Ayala was installed as the 10th bishop of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston on July 2, 2026, at the Cathedral of St. Joseph in Wheeling, West Virginia. A Salvadoran immigrant and former auxiliary bishop of Washington, Menjivar was joined by Baltimore Archbishop William E. Lori, Archbishop Gabriele G. Caccia (apostolic nuncio to the U.S.), bishop emeritus Mark E. Brennan, three cardinals, and more than 30 bishops and 160 priests for the Mass and a reception afterward.
